Riscaldamento Globale causato dall'uomo. Realta' o finzione?

Sono appena state rese pubbliche nuove e-mail scritte dai massimi esponenti tra i sostenitori dell'ipotesi del riscaldamento globale causato dalle attivita' umane. Come gia' successo nel 2009, qualcuno ha reso pubbliche una serie di email nelle quali - se ne sara' confermata l'autenticita' - e' evidente come tali personaggi abbiano interesse non a divulgare i risultati di ricerche scientifiche, ma a sostenere una causa ben precisa.

Essi cercano di convincere il pubblico che la temperatura globale e' sta ancora crescendo e che la causa e' da attribuire senza dubbio alle attivita' umane, in particolare al rilascio di anidride carbonica, la famosa CO2.

Leggendo tra le email che i signori si scambiano, nella speranza che tali email non vengano mai divulgate, risulta molto chiaro che il loro scopo e' di mantenere viva la convinzione nel grande pubblico che il riscaldamento globale causato dalle attivita' umane e' reale e in corso e che prtera' ad inevitabili disastri.

Per raggiungere tale scopo non esitano a ricorrere a qualunque trucco o sotterfugio, in particolare nascondendo le evidenze scientifiche (purtroppo per loro sempre piu' evidenti) che dimostrano il contrario di quanto da loro sostenuto, e trattando i dati a loro disposizione in modo da far sembrare il riscaldamento globale molto piu' accentuato di quanto sia in realta'.

Is the Anthropocentric Global Warming a reality?

Here we go again folks! A new batch of emails from the AGW gang has been released. Nothing new under the sun, but a confirmation of what already was evident. There are strong interest into maintaining the public opinion to believe that the slight warming observed during the last century is not so slight and is totally to be attributed to human activity, in particular carbon dioxide production. It is very clear from this first extract of emails how there is a specific plan to enhance the public perception of an on going AGW, even if they well know that the science is not settled at all and every day more and more scientific evidences go against the AGW hypothesis.

Berlusconi will resign, and now what?

Mi chiedo se tutti coloro che hanno gioito in queste ore per le dimissioni promesse di Berlusconi si rendano davvero conto della situazione italiana. Non che l'ultimo Berlusconi mi sia piaciuto molto, non tanto per il vero o presunto bunga bunga o per le cosiddette leggi "ad personam", che alla fine, a me cittadino comune, non toccano piu' di tanto, ma piuttosto per l'incapacita' di creare coesione tra le forze politiche di maggiornaza attorno a un progetto ben definito di riuscire a rompere quel muro di interessi di parte che hanno paralizzato il governo.
Leggendo le dichiarazioni sia degli esponenti della maggioranza, sia degli esponenti dell'opposizione degli ultimi mesi e' chiaro come Berlusconi fosse diventato il capro espiatorio su cui accollare la responsabilita' dell'immobilismo del governo e del parlamento che e' invece da ricercarsi altrove. Di tutto si puo' accusare Berlusconi ma non che sia andato al governo senza idee e che non ci abbia provato. Un esempio dei piu' clamorosi, la famosa riforma Biagi del mercato del lavoro, che era stata approvata nel 2001 e poi ritirata dopo una mezza rivoluzione popolare fomentata da opposizione di sinsitra e sindacati. Oggi ci ritorna piu' o meno negli stessi termini, ma impostaci dall'Europa con tanto di tirata di orecchie. E' colpa di Berlusconi? Se Berlusconi ha avuto una colpa in quell'occasione e' di non avere il polso sufficientemente fermo per mantenere una riforma tanto dolorosa quanto necessaria. Lo stesso vale per molte altre riforme promesse ma mai attuate.   La sua naturale inclinazione a far tutti contenti ha probabilmente accentuato questa debolezza. Ma dall'altra parte dello schieramento politico c'e' un'opposizione assolutamente immatura e impreparata a prendere in mano le redini del paese. Ci illudiamo forse che chi ha fatto il diavolo a quattro per contrastare provvedimenti innovativi e benefici per il Paese oggi sia in grado di sostenere gli stessi provvedimenti che vanno a toccare gli interessi del proprio bacino elettorale?
Nella ex maggioranza non c'e' piu' la coesione e la forza politica per creare un governo in grado di sostenere le riforme imposteci dall'Europa e men che meno di protare il Paese a fine legislatura. L'opposizione e' evidentemente incapace di proporre un progetto politico diverso dal "dagli al Berlusca". Un governo tecnico potrebbe tamponare le emergenze, ma dopo le elezioni saremmo di nuovo nelle stesse condizioni attuali di incertezza. Non vedo proprio come la fine del governo Berlusconi abbia giovato o giovera' alla povera Italia.

Indignato dagli indignati

Sono sempre stato in disaccordo con le idee di Marco Pannella, ma ho sempre riconosciuto la sua integrità politica e onestà personale. Sentirlo insultare e chiamare venduto durante la manifestazione dei cosiddetti indignati è stato davvero disgustoso. A parte lo spettacolo ripugnante di vedere anche ragazzi giovani insultare in modo pesante una persona anziana, anche supponendo che insultassero il politico e non la persona, resta la desolazione di constatare la totale ignoranza e mancanza di cultura democratica e politica di tanta gente. Di tutto si può accusare Marco Pannella tranne che si venda per ragioni di interesse personale. Se l'alternativa a Berlusconi è costituita dai rappresentanti di questa massa di buzzurri ignoranti, allora dico teniamoci quello cha abbiamo fino a quando non si trova qualcosa di meglio.

DWTS: from a dancing competion to "Fair of the Weirdos"

Once upon a time there was a lovely show on abc, a nice dance competition where more or less famous people would confront on the dance floor, each one starting from a different skill level, and week by week the best dancers would make their way to the final. The quality of the performances was improving week by week, giving the show a certain character and always gifting the viewer with a flavor of Beauty and Grace. The deal was that everybody could progress in the show but the performers had to guarantee a certain level of quality in order to advance. Unfortunately that's part of the past. The current edition of Dancing With The Stars provides way the worst show of all its 13 editions. A poor VIPs selection and a even worse voting audience taste has transformed the competition that used to please the viewers into a Fair of the Weirdos where people that would fit much better into a reality or other trash TV show, pretend to be able to dance and put up a distressing display.
But that's it... it's nothing else than a mirror of today society where people seem entitled to have the right of being successful about anything they try, no matter what their qualities are. And this general attitude leads to have more and more mediocre quality about every aspect of life. The public employee is sloppy and lazy in its job? Yes but he/she has the right of having a job and he/she WANTS to be a public employee. The politician is incapable? Yes but he said he/she would do good and people have elected him/her... and so on...

I miliardi verdi

Ogni giorno emergono sempre piu' evidenze che il concetto di riscaldamento globale causato dalle attivita' umane e' stato ampiamente esagerato se non addirittura gonfiato ad arte. Purtroppo i giornali (soprattutto europei ed in particolare italiani) non riportano le notizie che vanno contro quello che ormai e' il comune sentimento che il nostro pianeta e' in perocolo, ha la febbre, che le emissioni di anidride carbonica stanno surriscaldando il pianeta, ecc... Ci dicono ogni giorno che le evidenze scientifiche che provano il collegamento tra attivita' umane e riscaldamento globale sono inequivocabili, che il riscaldamento attuale non ha precedenti e cosi' via. Da un po' di tempo mi sono messo a fare un po' di ricerca indipendente su quali siano le evidenze scientifiche che sostengono tale teoria. Ed ho scoperto che NON ESISTE ASSOLUTAMENTE ALCUNA EVIDENZA SCIENTIFICA che provi il collegamento tra il riscaldamento corrente del pianeta (per altro assolutamente normale nei cicli climatici del nostro pianeta nel corso dei millenni precedenti) e le quantita' di anidride carbonica emessa nell'atmosfera. Tutte le previsioni di riscaldamento futuro sono basate su proiezioni di modelli matematici. Non sto ad entrare nei dettagli, ma molte delle ipotesi che sono utilizzate nei modelli sono arbitrarie, cioe' non sostenute da evidenze scientifiche e causano una proiezione di riscaldamento assolutamente non veritiera.
Allora perche' c'e' cosi' tanta pressione sull'opinione pubblica ad abbracciare la causa "verde" e l'idea che noi siamo causa del riscaldamento globale? Non ci saranno degli interessi dietro a tutto cio'? Ci sono, eccome! E si parla di MIGLIAIA DI MILIARDI DI DOLLARI. E a spartirsi la fetta ci sono organizzazioni internazionali, grandi banche, multinazionali, associazioni ambientaliste, e chi piu' ne ha piu' ne metta. Tutti questi soldi naturalmente non vengono per la maggior parte da privati, ma piuttosto da finanziamenti pubblici, quindi dalle nostre tasse. E qui nasce l'esigenza di convincere quanta piu' gente possibile sulla necessita' di combattere il riscaldamento globale. Senza il consenso politico, tutti quesi soldi non sarebbero disponibili! Perche' sono contrario all'alta velocita' in Val Susa

Ho sempre considerato il progetto TAV in val di Susa con poco favore, ma non sono mai stato un fervente sostenitore del NO. In seguito alle manifestazioni e agli eventi delle ultime settimane, ho approfondito un pochino la questione cercando di farmi un'idea personale, cosi' come cerco sempre di fare, senza farmi influenzare dalle opinioni altrui. L'interruttore che ha acceso la mia lampadina e' stato la lettera di Mario Virano ai cittadini della val di Susa per spiegare le ragioni del si'. Ad una prima lettura mi sono quasi lasciato ingannare e ho quasi pensato che in fondo c'erano buone ragioni per sostenere l'alta velocita' Qualcosa pero' non mi suonava bene. In particolare quando il signor Virano parla dell'alta velocita' in Valsusa come un anello fondamentale del grande sistema di trasporto europeo che andra' dall'Ucraina al Portogallo. Con i ricordi di geografia che mi sono rimasti dalle scuole elementari ho immaginato la cartina dell'Europa, con le sue pianure e le sue montagne. E mi sono chiesto, 1- ma perche' ca..o le merci dall'Ucraina dovrebbero essere trasportate fino al Portogallo? 2- Perche' in treno? 3- Perche' c...o dovrebbero proprio passare dalla Val di Susa? Ho fatto allora un altro po' di ricerca ed ho trovato del materiale che illustra questo progetto europeo di sviluppo dei trasporti. Che in generale e' sicuramente un'ottima idea. Lo sviluppo dell'economia ha bisogno di un'efficiente sistema di trasporti. Andando pero' nei dettagli si vede che l'Europa e' attraversata nella direzione est ovest da due linee principali. Una che si estende al nord delle Alpi, una che e' tracciata lungo la pianura padana e che, attraversando la Val Susa si ricongiunge all'altra linea in Francia, per poi dirigersi vesro la penisola iberica. Considerando che la linea a nord delle alpi corre in un territorio semi pianeggiante sembra un po' improbabile che si vogliano trasportare merci dall'est all'ovest dell'europa passando in un corridoio dove ci sono notevoli ostacoli orografici. Non dimentichiamoci mai che i treni ad alta velocita' nei tunnel (soprattutto lunghi decine di chilometri) non viaggiano per nulla ad alta velocita'!! Quindi la rete di trasporti nella pianura padana dovrebbe servire sostanzialmente il nord Italia e il collegamento con il resto della penisola. nel nord d'Italia ci sono sostanzialmente tre grandi poli generanti traffico merci: le zone indutriali del Veneto, della Lombardia e del Piemonte. La prima sarebbe gia' servita dai collegamenti del Brennero e verso la Slovenia, la seconda dai collegamenti verslo la Svizzera. Per l'area di Torino e' molto probabile che la ferrovia attuale, adeguatamente modificata potrebbe servire per tutto il traffico generato. Quindi risulta difficile giustificare l'utilita' di una una linea TAV per attraversare le alpi in questo modo. Un'ultima nota "visiva". mi e' saltato all'occhio come i paesi che al momento hanno maggiore sviluppo di rete ferroviaria ad alta velocita' rispetto alla superfice del territorio sono Grecia, Portogallo e Spagna... Qualcuno ha sentito nominare questi tre paesi ultimamente?

Grazie all'onorevole Di Pietro per averci regalato i primi cinque minuti di "normale" vita politica dopo non so quanto tempo. Ha fatto cio' che ci si dovrebbe aspettare da un qualunque politico. Ascoltare le idee dell'avversario e discuterne civilmente, lasciando da parte gli attacchi personali. Non so quali siano state le ragioni che lo hanno spinto al cambio di atteggiamento. Magari sara' quel nuovo venticello birichino che solleva le gonne alle ragazze?

Qual e' la linea che delimita il limite di sfruttamento dell' immagine femminile? E' la linea politica che divide la destra dalla sinistra. Se lo fa la destra e' ignobile mercificazione dell'immagine della donna. Se lo lo fa la sinistra e' una è "una citazione pubblicitaria, una rievocazione di Marilyn Monroe del film Quando la moglie è in vacanza, divenuta un'icona." Sarebbe stato interessante vedere la reazione della sinistra in toto se lo stesso manifesto fosse stato usato come pubblicita' dal Pdl.

Once more Italians missed a chance to be smart as a Country. Scared by the Japan nuclear disaster and misled by  populist politicians, they decided to vote NO to the  government's new plan to develope nuclear plants. And they are proud of it. Of course, the day after the "historical vote", the Japanese prime minister reassured his citizens that nuclear power is vital for Japan's economy and nothing is going to change because of the accident.
No wonder Japan is one of the first economies in the world and Italy is going down the hill...
Another great occasion is lost. Now that the Japanese experience provided extremely useful lessons on how to avoid such a disaster, we pull out and say no thank you. Good job, spaghetti eaters...

English and the Italians

Fino all'altro ieri si chiamava manifestazione. Poi qualcuno, non so chi, ha imparato una nuova espressione: "flash mob" ed ha incominciato a gridarla al vento. Qualcun altro, incuriosito, ha indagato un po' ed ha scoperto che invece della provinciale manifestazione, si puo' dire flash mob, che fa tanto internazionale e ha distribuito il nuovo termine su tutti i giornali. Ma perche' invece di imparare una parola alla volta e incastrarla, magari a sproposito, nell'Italiano quotidiano, cari abitanti del Bel Paese, non incominciamo (ate) a studiare l'Inglese per benino e ad usarlo a proposito? Magari, gia' che ci siamo (ete) anche una rispolveratina all'Italiano non farebbe male...

Il personaggio non mi era mai piaciuto per la sua arroganza e per il suo atteggiamento di superiorita', assoluatamente ingiustificato. Non avrei mai pensato, pero', che fosse capace di tali bassezze. Feelings of an ancient past

While walking on the trails that run on the hills on the west side of the big river, close to the junction between the loop and Interstate north, immersed in the bright green of the spring leaves and surrounded by the nature sounds I could not avoid to think how wonderful this land must have been before the so called civilized people invaded and transformed everything. The peace generated by the view of the springs, the regenerating whisper of the water, the happy sound of dozen of different birds made me travel back in time and experience what the first inhabitants of this area used to enjoy. The food was there in the river, or hiding somewhere in the woods, plenty of fresh water available, abundant wood for building and cooking everywhere. Mother nature provides you with everything you need for everyday's life. Just few miles away there's the continuous rumble of the highway and the stress of the civilized life...

Thanks for nothing, Europe

If anybody still had doubts about the advantages of being part of the European Union for a country like Italy, today events should have clarified them. So far Europe has done very little to guarantee the stability of the economy (wasn't this one of its main purpose?) has chocked the Italian economy first with the unfair change Lira/Euro, then with the so called Stability Parameters, then with the strenght of the Euro that shortened one of the main lever Italy had to expand its economy, the weakness of the lira, in order to make its products more competitive on the international market. Italy has given a lot in the name of a United Europe, probably not asked a lot and for sure received very little. Now that a real emergency is occurring and the Italian goverment is asking help to the European Union to face the exceptional wave of immigrants from Tunisia, most of the UE partners turn their face and ignore the request. For sure it was to be expected, I just wish that the current slap on the face was received by those who always were so enthusiastic and ready to any compromise to realize the "european dream" and not by those who have always been (with good reason) Euro skeptics. 

Gli Italiani, le proteste e la Costituzione

Ancora una volta una manciata di italiani si e' ritrovata nelle strade di Roma, e nalla piazza antistante il Parlamento per protestare contro il governo, che considera ormai illegittimo, e chiederne le dimissioni. Per fortuna di tutti gli Italiani, l'Italia e' una democrazia molto forte ed e' garantito a tutti di poter esprimere liberamente le proprie opinioni. La forza della democrazia italiana si esprime anche attraverso le sue Istituzioni; in particolare, il Parlamento attuale e' stato eletto durante le ultime elezioni, che si sono svolte liberamente, secondo, appunto un processo democratico. Il governo in carica e' tale in quanto la maggioranza del parlamento lo sostiene. Se la maggioranza dei parlamentari non sostenesse il governo, il Presidente del Consiglio resignerebbe le sue dimissioni al Capo dello Stato, il quale seguirebbe il processo dettato dalla Costituzione. L'unica maggioranza riconosciuta dall'ordinamento democratico italiano e' la maggioranza parlamentare. La Costituzione non fa riferimento ad una maggioranza della piazza, o degli italiani che esprimono le proprie opinioni al bar, o quant altro. Quindi l'Onorevole Di Pietro quando afferma che il governo ha la maggioranza parlamentare ma non piu' quella politica, esercita il suo diritto di espressione, garantitogli dal fatto di vivere in un paese democratico, ma la sua affermazione non ha alcuna valenza istituzionale. Altrimenti si tornerebbe al concetto di chi grida piu' forte vince. E questa non e' democrazia. Sarebbe anche bello, visto che cosa succede al di la' del Mediterraneo, che si astenesse dal fare riferimenti a una rivolta popolare. E' un insulto a chi ha perso la vita per protestare contro regimi davvero anti democratici.

The German campaign of Berlusconi's image

I really hope that the Italian government issues a strong protest against the campaign that the German televisions ARD and ZDF have started to promote "fair information ad objectivity" during some local election and, mostly, to invite people to pay their annual fee "to guarantee independence of information". In this campaign the Germans don't miss a chance to show the racism they still deeply cultivate and use the image of the Italian prime minister (who happens to own three television and a couple of newspapers) to picture what would Germany be without media freedom and independence. Now, I think every Italian should feel deeply offended by this step forward of the German racism, that starting from calling Italians spaghetti eaters has now become Italians stupid puppepts in Berlusconi's hands. Now it's clear that blinded how they are in their feeling of superiority, those teutonic Kartoffeln eaters didn't bother to come down to the third world country (Lago di Garda is far enought) and look around, use that thing called TV remote control or buy a couple of newspapers to realize that things are not exactly the way they depict in their advertisements. Or, maybe, they actually crossed the border, and watched the third channel of the public TV, or they bought the newspaper Repubblica, or L'Unita', or il Manifesto, just to give some examples.... and they found a detailed description of how the Italians lack of media freedom and all the relevant complains and protests.... duh.

About paying an annual fee to a TV to guarantee it's independence, we have the blatant example of the public TV RAI, where the first channel has always been asserved to the government, whatever it is, the second has been asserved to the socilaists for long time, and now is not clear (at least to me) where it stands, while the third channel has alwas been asserved to the far left (current, ex, or post, whatever definition you like best). So if you really want a bad example of the Italian TV look at the public netowrk, that is paid by people's money, not at the private TVs that are paid by their owner's money. If you don't like what the owner of the private TV has to say on his TVs, you have a tremendous power to make him shut up in your house. It's called remote control.

Please German fellows, go back to call us Spaghetti Eaters, we are used to that and is much more in line with your intellectual level. Don't try to appear what you are not.

The aboslutely immotivated and insane reaction of a part of the Italian people is another blatant example how they are aware but not knowledgeable. There is no whatsoever dangerous level of radiation coming to Italy from Japan, never the less they act like it is a deadly cloud. Someone could please explain to them how things are in  reality?

Cuore di pietra

Oggi ho verificato con mano che le pietre hanno un cuore durissimo. Tentando di scavare una traccia per passare un filo elettrico in un pilastro di cemento armato, i sassolini annegati nel cemento erano la parte più dura da rompere! Non uno che con un po' di buon cuore si offrisse di farsi da parte senza tante storie... Li ho dovuti cacciare a martellate uno per uno!

Knowledge is more important than awareness and other things about Italy

I was watching the news on TV during my stay in Italy, and people were rallying to defend the constitution from the government which is attacking it and try to change it. If you put it in this way, one could be reasonably worried about democracy in Italy. Fortunately for Italy and for it's inhabitant things are not exactly how the people at the rallies were saying. First of all, the constitution itself describe the procedures that need to be followed in order to change it. The government is following step by step those procedures, and proof is that the President of the Republic approved both the method and the content of the changes, which is to say the changes proposed still are in line with the constitution spirit.
That made me think... do these people really know what they are rallying for? They are aware that a change in the constitution is under development but they don't know how that works and what they mean. So they are aware but not knowledgable. This leave space for some interested politician to use the people's good faith to show that "the people is defending the constitution against those who are attacking it".
Thinking about it, this is very common in Italy. People are very eager to be aware of what is going on around them (and that is very good) and are also willing to do something in order to defend what they believe in (and this is very good as well) but unfortunately they usually do not take the time to get a deeper knowledge of the things they are aware of. It doesn't matter if it is the GMO or the Nuclear Energy, the war in Afghanistan or the workers unified contract, the gobal warming or the poles melting. They are aware of it and therefore they feel the need to do something. But because they don't have the right knowledge, in the best case they limit their action to pointless rally, in some other cases (for example in the case of the nuclear poll years ago when the majority of Italians chose to stop the development of nuclear power plants) cause a big harm to their country. Just to stick to the example, stopping the development of nuclear plants is causing huge energy bills today, that surely worsen the already not so bright economic situation.... So the suggestion is, my dear Italian fellows, before you go to the streets and protest, try to get some knowlegde. Be aware is good but not enought... 

What the West should do about Libya

All the western governments are watching what is happening in Libya without a clue about what to do. They are horrified of the massacres that are going on there but they are scared of a military intervention that could have a negative impact on the arab masses. But of course someone in the Arab world, expecially the poor Libya citizen, will accuse the West to be inect and to have done nothing to stop the crazy guy.
There is a very simple solution to this empasse. The West, in particular the US and the NATO should offer their military power to the Arab league and/or the African Union and say something like "we are here available to do what you will ask us to do, bur we are not going to do anything if you don't ask us". That way the ball would be in Arabs' field, and nobody could accuse the West of stay and watch. The decision about an intervention would be all in the hands of the Arabs and at the same time they would not feel left alone.

Non so quali siano le motivazioni che hanno ispirato il vescovo di Padova. Voglio credere sia una deviazione di un pacifismo 'senza se e senza ma' che annebbia la mente e che non ci siano invece ragioni politiche nascoste...
Ma il Vescovo ricorda Papa Giovanni Paolo II che invocava il dovere della comunita' internazionale di intervenire per fermare il massacro in Bosnia? Mi chiedo se sia un atteggiamento davvero cristiano lasciare una popolazione indifesa in balia di terroristi spietati, soltanto per rimanere fedeli a un pacifismo "senza se e senza ma" e per non correre il rischio di sporcarsi le mani... o la coscienza... Mi sembra un atteggiamento egoistico, piu' che cristiano.

Berlusconi, the judges and other worries

If I were Mr. Berlusconi I would be seriously worried. I am seriously worried even if I am not Mr. Berlusconi and I am 100% confident that I never committed any of the felonies he is accused of. What worries me is the motivation that the investigation judges used to send Mr. Berlusconi to trial on April 6th. If one would waste some of his/her time ro read all the phone records, as well as the deposition testified by the involved girls, it would appear clearly that there is absolutely no proof that Mr. Berlusconi did any of the things he is accused of. All the involved girls always testified that they never had sex with the guy. Never in the phone records there is a person who admit to have been paid by Mr. Berlusconi to have sex with him, or even to have sex with him at all. The reason for the prosecutors believe he is guilty is based on the "logic conclusion" (that's what they say) that if he had these girls participating to his parties and he paid money and provided otehr benefits to these girls, that means they had (this is the logic conclusion) paid sex with him. Included Mrs Karima, AKA Ruby, who was a minor at the time.
Now, what worries me is the "logic conclusion" principle adopted by the judges. Based on the same princile, Hugh Hefner would be guilty. Any guy who has a girlfriend who is not working and he's providing for her (and have sex with her) would be guilty. If the generally accepted principle that all the people are equal before the law is still applicable. Clearly that's not the case. The "logic conclusion" principle is very very dangerous because can bring to conclusions that even if "logical" are not true. Just because it looks like something happened that doesn't mean it did. A very high level of "reasonable certainty" is required to condemn someone. Of course, this is what one expects in a democratic regime....

Now, this is becoming serious...

I was amazed to find out today that I've got well three accesses that are not generated by me! One form Germany (thanks to my friend Nino for that!) one from Poland and even one from China. That made me feel very popular! Keep it up folks! :)

Ma che Golpe d' Egitto!

Leggo oggi che il presidente egiziano ha lasciato la capitale diretto (beato lui!) a Sharm el-Sheikh, intenzionato a ritirarsi a vita privata. Sembra che annuncera' le sue dimissioni entro domani. Il potere verra' assunto, al di fuori dell'ordinamento costituzionale, da un Consiglio supremo dell'esercito. Si puo' parlare di un colpo di stato? Se si considera come colpo di stato ogni assunzione di potere al di fuori dell'ordinamento costituzionale allora quello che avviene in Egitto puo' definirsi un golpe. Nell'immaginario collettivo pero' il golpe e' un'azione, di solito da parte di militari, piu' o meno violenta volta a prendere il controllo di uno Stato. Nel caso dell'Egitto, a richiedere a gran voce le dimissioni del presidente in carica (non necessarieamente eletto dal popolo con regolari elezioni), e' stato il popolo stesso. Apparentemente l' esercito egiziano si sta assumendo la responsabilita' di governare la fase di transizione evitando vuoti di potere che potrebbero portare a gravi disordini. Le dichiarazioni dei vertici dell'esercito chiamano alle elezioni a breve termine per formare un nuovo governo ed eleggere un nuovo presidente. Se cio' si verifichera' senza intoppi, allora sara' difficile definire quanto sta succedendo in Egitto come golpe. Sara' invece una ulteriore dimostrazione dell'affidabilita' delle forze armate egiziane e della loro funzione di servizio (in senso lato) al prorio paese.

Presunzione umana

L'uomo moderno e' cosi' presuntuoso che si ritiene in diritto di modificare il mondo che lo circonda a suo piacimento. Non risparmia neppure il clima... I vecchi adagi ci insegnavano che il tempo bisogna prenderlo cosi' come viene, pioggia o sole, vento o neve, caldo o freddo. Oggi ci illudiamo di poter modificare addirittura la temperatura del nostro pianeta. Siamo presuntuosi due volte. Primo perche' crediamo che tutti i presunti cambi del clima siano dovuti ad azioni dell'uomo. Secondo perche' pensiamo di poter far qualcosa per annullare tali cambi.

Why starting a blog? Because one's got something to say and would like to share his thoughts with other people. As simple as that. I am not interested in convincing anybody to agree with my ideas. I'm happy with sharing them.  My hardest decision is what language to use. English would provide a much wider audiance (little ambitious you say?) but of course Italian is my first language and would allow me to express my thoughts in the best way. I guess I will go with the flow and decide each time which language is more appropriate.
